Superhero

There are many ways to blow off steam after a long week, and for many people, there’s nothing better than going out with friends and having a good time. We all need some healthy, well-earned downtime in our lives. But despite planning on a good time and playing it safe, sometimes things don’t go according to plan. You might think that this is only something you read about in the paper or something you see on the news, but these often life-altering moments can happen to anyone.

So, what happens when you plan for a good night out and good times turn bad? What do you do when a nice night out turns into a nightmare?

This is where our Street Crews come in.

They’re not the stereotypical superheroes that you see in the comic books, but this amazing team serves the Toowoomba CBD each weekend, helping people have a good and a safe night out. From applying first aid, giving out water, and helping people find a way home, through to supporting our guests through their concerns and issues, the Street Crews are available to assist in a variety of ways.

I’ve been co-ordinating the Street Crews service for a short while, but over that time, I’ve found that every Street Crew member is a genuine person who has a passion for helping people. Every one of our team is trained and equipped to provide an exceptional level of care to those that engage with the service.

Dani and Tika, two of our long-serving team, will be easily recognisable by the people that regularly connect to our team. Both have been faithfully and passionately serving the Toowoomba community through our Street Crew programs for many years. They represent the ‘heart’ and calibre of our team, who are all hard-working and willing to do what it takes to make a difference for others. No matter what’s happening, our team will roll up their sleeves and ‘get involved’ where and when it’s needed…even if it is a bit messy.

As a leader, it is great to know that there is such an amazing team of superheroes that are dedicated to helping to improve the lives and wellbeing of our community each and every weekend.
